The Platform – EOIs CLOSE
Interested in becoming a public artist? Are you a multicultural visual artist or an artist from any cultural background living in South West Brisbane (including Logan or Ipswich)?
The Platform initiative began as a Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games legacy project supported by Queensland Government and proudly delivered by Brisbane City Council. Located adjacent to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha (BBGMC) Visitor Information Centre, The Platform features sculptural works, displayed for up to 12 months before being permanently located within the gardens. The Platform is a 2.4 metre by 2.4 metre low plinth complete with hold-down points, lights and the capacity to accommodate a two-tonne load. Made from charcoal coloured concrete and embedded within a native-species garden, The Platform recedes, allowing the commissioned artwork to both nestle in the garden and/or stand alone.
Council is now inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified artists to create a site responsive artwork on The Platform.
